Fundraisers and Work Stuff

This past month has been busy with a lot of work stuff for me. ACCESS has had many fundraisers and I had a simulation in Lansing. All went well and we had a great time.

The first fundraiser was at Founder's Brewery, where 4 bands (The Honeytones, Midlife Crisis, Ras Tyger, and Flashback) played. Most of the proceeds went to ACCESS and it was an exciting event. Click here to read more about it.

Another exciting event was that ACCESS brought the Poverty Simulation Workshop to Lansing. We had a smaller than expected turnout, but those who attended had great comments. Those of us that attended felt honored to be able to bring the workshop to those that make the decisions in our state. Click here to read more about it.

Lastly, ACCESS had a fundraiser at Culver's, which we always love:-) Paul and I ran food out to customers and greeted guests as they came in.

This morning, Paul and I took part in the GRACE Hunger Walk. The proceeds of the walk will be distributed to 17 local agencies and 4 international agencies. ACCESS is one of the agencies that will receive the proceeds from the walk. This was the first time Paul and I participated and we really enjoyed it. There is a 5K and a 12K walk, but anyone who knows me knows that I opted for the 5K:-)

All in all, many great things are happening for ACCESS and Paul and I have loved being a part of it. I will really miss being a part of such a wonderful agency when the baby comes, but I know I will always keep SOME sort of connection with ACCESS:-) I may be off of the payroll by the end of August, but I have a feeling I will be a part of the County Wide Food Drive, and other fundraisers as they come up. I truly believe in the mission of ACCESS and love the people that are a part of the agency. They keep telling me that those who leave ACCESS never REALLY leave...I totally get it:-)
